FE-ISO5167 Ver. 1.11, March 30, 2005. FE-ISO5167 is a program for 32-bit MS Windows environments. FE-ISO5167 calculates flow-rate, differential pressure, diameter of orifice or throat of a differential device and the inner diameter of a pipe in accordance with ISO5167/2003. FE-ISO5167 is furnished under the license agreement and may be used or copied only in accordance with the terms of the license agreement. INSTALLATION AND REGISTRATION Download "fe_5167.exe" a self-extracting demo program. Run "fe_5167.exe" and follow the on-screen instructions. The default folder for installation is c:\ProgramFiles\fe_iso5167. Setup program automatically adds FE-ISO5167 to the Program group. To start FE-ISO5167 double click the icon from Windows Explorer or click "Start" from your taskbar and then select "Programs" and "Fe-iso5167". The values of pressure and density parameters are fixed in unregistered version and can not be altered but you can still verify all the possibilities and options of registered FE-ISO5167 software. If you want to have installed a fully featured version of FE-ISO5167 you must register by using Kagi Online Order Processing system at "http://order.kagi.com/cgi-bin/store.cgi?storeID=ZQU". After you have registered your FE-ISO5167 at Kagi you should receive the corresponding registration data by e-mail. After receiving e-mail message with your FE-ISO5167 registration data, select Register from your FE-ISO5167 Help Menu and enter the data exactly as described in the e-mail message. IMPORTANT NOTE In the international applications where decimal separator is not a period (.), FE-ISO5167 will not work properly. In order to work properly FE-ISO5167 needs the following symbols to be set in both "Number" and "Currency" menu of the "Regional Settings Properties" of your MS Windows "Control Panel": (.) for decimal symbol and (,) for digit grouping symbol. To change the settings close your FE-ISO5167 first. Click on 'Start' on your MS Windows taskbar, select "Settings" and then "Control Panel". Double click on "Regional Settings" in your Control Panel. Click on 'Number' and set the following for the "Decimal Symbol" and for "Digit Grouping Symbol": Decimal symbol: decimal point - period (.) Digit grouping symbol: comma (,) Click on "Apply" button. Click on "Currency" and repeat the same settings. Click on "Apply" button and close your "Regional Settings" window. Run FE-ISO. INTRODUCTION FE-ISO5167 is a software package aimed primarily to flow measurement engineers. The FE-ISO5167 solves the following flow engineering tasks: 1. Flowrate calculation 2. Differential pressure calculation 3. Calculation of the diameter of orifice (throat) at working conditions 4. Calculation of the upstream inner diameter of pipe at working conditions The FE-ISO5167 is based completely on the International standard ISO 5167: Measurement of fluid flow by means of pressure differential devices inserted in circular crosssection conduits running full - Part 1: General principles and requirements, Ref. number: ISO 5167-1:2003(E). Part 2: Orifice plates, Ref. number: ISO 5167-2:2003(E). Part 3: Nozzles and Venturi nozzles, Ref. number: ISO 5167-3:2003(E). Part 4: Venturi tubes, Ref. number: ISO 5167-4:2003(E). The FE-ISO5167 covers the engineering equations for the following differential devices: 1. Orifice with flange tappings 2. Orifice with corner tappings 3. Orifice with D and D/2 tappings 4. Venturi tube with a machined inlet 5. Venturi tube with an 'as cast' inlet 6. Venturi tube with a rough-welded sheet-iron inlet 7. Long radius nozzle 8. ISA 1932 nozzle 9. Venturi nozzle (ISA inlet) FE-ISO5167 reports the corresponding errors if input and/or output data are out of limits imposed by standards and helps to locate and correct the errors. FE-ISO5167 enables the following input/output operations: 1. Save/Load project 2. Print project 3. Print project ASCII to file INPUT PARAMETERS Input parameters common to all calculations are: 1. Absolute pressure 2. Temperature 3. Fluid type (gas or liquid) 4. Upstream density 5. Upstream viscosity 6. Isentropic exponent 7. Type of differential device 8. Position of pressure tap (up- or down-stream pressure measurement) Additional input parameters for flowrate calculation are: 1. Differential pressure 2. Orifice or throat diameter Additional input parameters for differential pressure calculation are: 1. Flowrate 2. Orifice or throat diameter Additional input parameters for the calculation of orifice or (throat) diameter are: 1. Flowrate 2.
